4th April 2011 The Lonely Universe

Since the universe is expanding at an ever increasing rate, there will be a point at which galaxies are moving away from us at more than the speed of light, and thus their light will never reach us. This will mean the sky will be a fairly empty place, with only our own galaxy visible.  An article in New Scientist suggests how cosmologists of the future may be able to determine that the universe is expanding.
